Te Aheawhe Tāke (Tax Working Group), chaired by former Finance Minister Hon Sir Michael Cullen, will provide recommendations to Government to improve the fairness, balance and structure of the New Zealand tax system over the next 10 years.
Te Hunga Roia Māori o Aotearoa support moves to broaden the tax base and create a fairer tax system. We are in favour of changes that would, among other things, support the inclusion of tikanga Māori into Aotearoa’s tax system and the further consideration of how taxes could apply to taonga assets.

Te Aheawhe Tāke will release an interim report in September 2018 before issuing their final recommendations in February 2019.
