In July 2018, Te Hunga Rōia Māori launched the first Kura Reo event at Hoani Waititi marae in Auckland.

For 3 days, 120 participants of all levels of fluency, backgrounds and ages participated in the Kura Reo under the guidance of our 6 guest kaiako; Scotty Morrison, Hēmi Kelly, Dr Karena Kelly, Jennifer Martin, Stephanie Fong, and Tai Ahu. Legal practitioners and students had an opportunity to immerse themselves fully in a Hōtaka (programme) designed to support their learning and their level of aptitude, irrespective of their level of fluency.

Te Hunga Rōia Māori set out to create an event and a space where the promotion and growth of Te Reo in the law would have the opportunity to grow.

This year, Te Hunga Rōia Māori are pleased to invite you to participate in the second inaugural Kura Reo.

Registrations for Kura Reo 2019 will open on later in 2019, so members should keep an eye out on their emails. If you have any further questions about registration or participating in this year’s Kura Reo please email us.

For participants, Kura Reo offers;

  • CBD points of 10+ hours
  • A variety of situations during the 3 days to apply your Te Reo practically
  • Kaiako from a range of backgrounds to support and guide your learning
  • Meals during the 3 days
